-Cote d'Ivoire is french for Ivory Coast.

-It is named that because Cote d'Ivoire used to be a leading producer on Ivory from elephant tusks, but since elephants have been becoming endangered, the trade has stopped.

-The Official language of Cote d’Ivoire is French, but most people speak Dyula, or one of the other 60 dialects i found here.

-The Capital of Cote d'Ivoire is  Yamoussoukro, but used to be Abadjan, the capitals were switched in 1983.

​

-The national Anthem is called the "Song of Abadjan" even though Abadjan is no longer the capital.

​

-The flag colors are orange,white, and green. One reason behind the colors is that orange represents the northern Savannahs, and green represents the southern Forests, and white is the binding between the two.

The current president is President Alassane Ouattara, and the current Prime Minister is Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan.

-Cote d’Ivoire produces more cocoa beans than any other nation.
